Our Story

Did you know the first soft drinks were actually made as a healing tonic?
Over a century ago, fermented sodas like Ginger beer or Root beers were sold in pharmacies for their medicinal benefits.

A few years ago, I was struggling with a chronic health condition, that forced me to restrict my sugar consumption to almost zero, relying mostly on liquid mixes to heal my condition.

 

After losing 40lbs in 8 months I realized I couldn’t keep living like this, that disrupted everything—my sleep, my energy, my mood. The root causes? A severely imbalanced gut, a digestive disorder, like many, I didn’t realize how deeply our gut health affects our entire well-being, including insomnia and emotional health.

After a medical trip to Germany, I learned that healing my gut—our “second brain”—was the key. I cut out sugar completely, relied on liquid nutrition, and began isolating myself socially because there were no enjoyable, health-friendly drinks I could have.

My mission began: If I couldn't find it, I would make it. I turned my isolation to productivity: so, started mixing & and fermenting ingredients to create recipes that were fun, joyful, and whimsical, like the conventional soft drinks we love, but unfortunately usually avoid! I wanted to bring joy to people through our beverage. 

My obsession with combining function and taste – a challenge born out of frustration and desire to live a healthy life like ‘normal’ people gave rise to the prototypes of the Broo Sodas!   

That’s when Broö was born, to craft delicious, fermented sodas are gut microbiome friendly —as our ancestors said “those good bacteria that play a vital role in digestion, sleep, and mental clarity”

 

These aren’t just drinks. They’re a life style of well-being, joy, and connection—one sip at a time.

Although Ahmad is an engineer by training, he has decided to take the high road in the beverage industry where his refined palate and understanding of finances, business development and digital marketing are prized.
