By trying to reinvent the soft drinks and health tonics industry, we can imagine a world where alternative, health-supporting yet tasty beverages are common to help people continue making the right choices in their lives

Expand our range of flavours and benefits in the future through constant Research & Development for local communities and in other parts of the world. Reviving the traditions of sodas is a must in this dream. Plants are healing and we can use their properties as well as many existing technologies to ambitiously create impressive tasty consumables for all to enjoy!
Our Story
Did you know that about 100 years ago, the first soft drinks were made as medicinal tonics? These first carbonated ‘Ginger beers' and 'Root beers' were fermented plant infusions that were sold in pharmacies called apothecaries and …in bars too!
The Broö project began in 2017 to recreate these traditional drinks but with a modern twist.
During this time, I was overcoming a chronic health condition that forced me to restrict my sugar consumption to almost zero, relying mostly on liquid mixes to heal my condition. After losing 40lbs in 8 months I realized I couldn’t keep living like this. After a medical trip to Germany, I learned that my disorder was rooted in the digestive (gut) system and that The Gut is the Body’s Second brain!
Most people with health conditions know that our social lives are deeply affected by the avoidance of foods and beverages. We often avoid social gatherings like outings to coffee shops, parties, bars, etc as these are centred around foods and drinks – often very sugary ones! This caused me to isolate myself for years. I would sit back and watch my friends eat, and drink sugar and alcohol without so much as taking a sip myself. The isolation many of us (often secretly) experience is very common especially since very few mainstream drinks and foods combine having a pleasant taste and lacking health-deteriorating ingredients.
It is difficult to find both healthy and tasty options in foods and beverages in the Canadian mainstream market. For example, nothing exists between flavoured waters, kombuchas and sugary drinks. I wondered ‘Why don’t we have more alternatives to sugary drinks in Canada if we have everything at our disposal to be innovative?’’
My mission began: If I couldn't find it, I would make it. I turned my isolation to productivity: so, started mixing & and fermenting ingredients to create recipes that were fun, joyful, and whimsical, like the conventional soft drinks we love, but unfortunately usually avoid! I wanted to bring joy to people through our beverage.
My obsession with combining function and taste – a challenge born out of frustration and desire to live a healthy life like ‘normal’ people gave rise to the prototypes of the Broo Sodas! So, a new line of drinks that more people can enjoy was born!
