What's Broö?

Answers to your clever questions

Because sincere questions require honest answers

What is Broö, exactly?

We know — it’s unusual to link soft drinks with health benefits. And yes, Broö sounds like “brew” because it originally was brewed! While our recipe has evolved, we kept the name we love.

Today, Broö is a zero-sugar prebiotic soda crafted with herbs, plants, fruits, and natural sweeteners. Think of your favorite classic sodas — but without the sugar, artificial flavors, or empty calories. Instead, Broö adds fiber, botanicals, and gut-friendly benefits — all fizzed up for a refreshing taste.

And because taste matters, we made the extra effort to ensure our natural sweetener blend is smooth, clean, and has no aftertaste.

It’s soda reimagined: the flavors you love, with none of the sugar crash or bloat.

What does it taste like!?

It’s like heaven descended into a can and said, “taste me.” Just kidding — we don’t actually know what heaven tastes like. Broö is punchy, refreshing, and full of flavor. No weird aftertaste and clean flavour.

The sweetness profile is just like a classic soda — about the equivalent of 18–28g of sugar - without sugar!

I hate the taste of stevia!

Fair — is that a question or a statement? We hate it too! That’s why we pushed hard,

worked with specialists, and taste-tested for months to create Broö’s unique sweetening blend.

The result? Zero sugar, no weird aftertaste, and all the flavor of soda you love.

You’re welcome. 😉

What is a prebiotic?

In short, a Prebiotic is a food (usually a fiber) that feeds the native PRObiotics in your gut (the good bacteria that already exist in your intestinal tract that help process the foods you eat and digest them). There are many types of PREbiotics, we chose to use FibreGum, it is Acacia Tree Resin.

Why did you chose acacia gum as prebiotic fiber

We didn’t just pick any fiber and called it a day. We chose FibreGum®, a pure acacia tree resin that’s dried and powdered without additives. Here’s why: Acacia gum is Low FODMAP.

That means it’s gentler on digestion and often better tolerated by people with sensitive guts, including those with SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth). In contrast, inulin (a common prebiotic you’ll see in “health” products) is High FODMAP — and research shows it can cause bloating, cramps, and discomfort in many people. Acacia delivers the same gut-friendly prebiotic benefits but with smoother tolerance.

What's Marshmallow Extract? and Why!

Marshmallow root extract comes from the marshmallow plant (Althaea officinalis), a traditional herbal remedy used for centuries to support gut health and digestion. Rich in soothing mucilage, it helps coat and calm the body’s mucus membranes — including the throat, lungs, and gut lining.

We added marshmallow root extract to Broö’s zero-sugar prebiotic sodas to give your gut an extra layer of support. If it were up to us alone, we’d pack in every herb we love — but this one made the cut for both its benefits and its history.

Are My Symptoms from Gut Issues?

As someone who struggled with chronic, invisible health problems, I didn’t realize for years that many of them were connected to my gut.

We can’t diagnose you — but we can offer a better-for-you alternative to the usual sodas on store shelves, to support you on your journey.

Remember: elimination and observation are powerful tools. Pay attention to what your body tells you, and share those observations with your health professional.

Most importantly, don’t give up. Small steps often lead to the biggest solutions.

What's the Name all About?

When we first started formulating the drink 5 years ago, the founders worked day and night — and jokingly called each other “Bro” for comedic relief. One suggested naming the drink Bro, but the other quickly replied: “Why not call it Sis then?” After a few playful arguments (and a rare moment of clarity), Broö was born — a twist on “brew” and “broue” (the French slang for foam/fizz). It’s our nod to the Franglais culture of Montreal and the Belle Province of Québec.

What's Gut-health, what's microbiome...
